Getting Involved & Speaking Up so as to change the landscape of inequity by fixing systems to be more efficient, and reducing or eliminating barriers to improve the quality of life of every identity.

Our Beginnings

It is time…to end racism. This has been the focus of It Is Time since it’s inception in 2020.  It Is Time began after witnessing the murder of an innocent black man at the hands of police, which sparked a call to action. That call was to take back the narrative of Black and Brown people, and stating that “It Is Time” to do something about this racism and hatred that lived within our lives.

As the country has taken steps towards this endeavor, it has been increasingly clear that, while this wasn’t an easy task, it remains elusive to solve.  We recognize that racism and discrimination continue to be embedded in all parts of our society.  Yet, it has been marred by being weaponized, and reconstructed to be more about segregating, and hatred, than integrating our many racial backgrounds together.

Now, as the state of Maine and country have moved on past this, the call has become much deeper.  Whereas 2020 was a Racial Reckoning that saw a variety of people, organizations, and business spring up to end racism, 2024 calls for new action and endeavors.  It Is Time looks now to shift focus and journey towards more Equity outcomes and Efficiency efforts within local businesses, organizations, and individual people.  Our model, is a way towards even further positive change in the face of uncertain times, with the hope of creating a continued long-lasting future for not just African Americans, Black, and Brown individuals, but each varied identity out there. We seek to advocate, and affect change, for those who are preyed upon by years of racism and racial inequality, and those who find barriers to an enhanced quality of life.

What Started It All

It is important to honor the past and founding of where we come from. It were these statements that solidified our efforts and pushed us forward…
